The Wilds shares almost everything with Boardwalk Meander from a window's point of view: recently built family homes, an estate still filling out with new stands, and gardens that haven't had the decades needed to grow a proper shade canopy. It's a similar generation of house too — open-plan living, big sliding doors onto a covered patio, and a floor plan that assumes the family spends most of its time in one connected space rather than a series of small closed rooms.
What tends to get specified here
- Sunscreen and blockout roller blinds across the open-plan living areas and bedrooms — the everyday specification for this kind of floor plan.
- Motorised blinds wired in during the build for wide stacking doors and double-volume windows, rather than retrofitted later.
- Cellular blinds for nurseries and studies, especially rooms that catch the full afternoon sun with no established trees yet to soften it.
- Folding-arm awnings and roller shutters on entertainment decks and exposed elevations, both wind-sensor protected for the highveld's summer storms.
